SUMMARY:2016 How To Interview Candidates Without Getting Into Hot Water Session 1
DESCRIPTION:How To Interview Job Applicants Without Getting Into Hot Water presented by Mark Tilkens\, Managing Partner\, Jackson Lewis\n\n\n\nBecause Steamfitters Local 601 has changed its procedure for hiring apprentices to a letter of introduction system\, you or people in your company might now be interviewing apprentice candidates for the first time. Did you know there are things you cannot ask a job applicant without getting into legal trouble?\n\nTo help you navigate these troubling waters\, PMC/SMACCA is bringing you two training sessions on how to conduct lawful and effective job interviews. These seminars are perfect for anyone in your company who interviews job applicants\, not just people who hire steamfitting apprentices.\n\n\n\nAbout the Presenter: Mr. Tilkens' legal experience includes counseling and representing employers across the country in traditional labor law matters\, including the most difficult collective bargaining and "bet the company" cases\, situations\, arbitrations\, strikes\, replacing strikers\, union organizing campaigns\, elections\, acquisitions of unionized companies\, and proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board. He also guides employers on all issues related to employee performance\, disciplinary and discharge decisions\, reductions in force\, as well as advising employers in all aspects of the employer employee relationship\, including wage and hour\, employment contracts\, workers' compensation\, disability issues\, internal investigations\, and policy formulation/review. Mr. Tilkens began his labor and employment practice after a decorated career in law enforcement. Mr. Tilkens was recognized annually by prosecutors for outstanding performance in the line of duty\, including being awarded "Top Cop of the Year."
